The Resurrection of a King

shutterstock_75142841-e1373574720170Spring is almost here. Most of us are probably excited about that. While I’ve enjoyed a break from mowing the lawn, I’m looking forward to warmer weather. Well, it’s Christmas—the most wonderful time of the year.  For many people it is probably their most favorite holiday.  It can also be a confusing holiday to explain to someone who lives in a country that doesn’t celebrate Christmas.

What Does Reformation Day Have To Do With Kim Davis?

Sola_Full_Graphic_1110_624October 31st is Reformation Day. It is a remembrance of the day in 1517 when a monk by the name of Martin Luther, tacked up his “95 Theses” to the castle door in Wittenberg, Germany. That action set off a chain of events that radically changed not only the church but the whole world.

The Value Of Work

steamworkshop_webupload_previewfile_407091116_previewThere used to be a Ramada Inn at the intersection of Miller Lane and Little York Road. Do you remember that? The evidence of a motel is gone, but it used to be there. There is an open field in my neighborhood where there was once a house. Give Thanks This Independence Day

Valley_Forge_prayerThe Fourth of July is obviously one of our nation’s most celebrated holidays. It was truly an historic day when the members of the Continental Congress put their signatures to the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Getting Ready For Marriage

vintage-wedding-cake-toppers-13In January, my daughter got married. I had the privilege of officiating the wedding, but I want to make a few observations about the other part I had in the ceremony, giving away the bride. Where does that come from? What does it mean, the bride being given away but the groom isn’t?

He was asked whether such a big loss shakes his faith in God. In response, Rodgers reportedly said, “I don’t think God cares a whole lot about the outcome. He cares about the people involved, but I don’t think He is a big football fan.” Is that true?

Christmas Movie Theology

home-alone-2-lost-in-new-york-brenda-fricker-pidgeon-lady-in-parkOne of the things that characterize America’s celebration of Christmas is the making of Christmas movies and television specials. This is intriguing to me. Christmas is a recognized holiday in western nations where the Christian faith has been influential in their history.
